| Dubrovnik | Dubrovnik boat trips Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 10:44 AM UTC
I plan to walk the walls as early in the day as possible, but it will be on a Saturday. Would it be better (less crowded), to go late on Friday afternoon? What time do they open and close this month? If I went in the morning, would I have time after this to visit an island near Dubrovnik? How long would it take to get there? Alternatively, is there a short boat trip I could do to see the city from the water?
Thank you to all who have answered my previous questions about getting from the airport to my hotel. |

Depends how hot it is - morning's best if you want to avoid the heat but late afternoon's good light for photos. They should be open from 9am to 7.30pm now.
If you do it in the morning, you'd certainly have time to go out to one of the islands afterwards or take a cruise around the city walls and Lokrum. Lokrum's the nearest island - boat's go every half hour in summer.

Yes, Lokrum is a good choice. You get a view of the city from the boat itself, and there are some pleasant walks around the island with more views of the city.

Thank you for your advice. Trip to Lokrum sounds promising. I'm starting to wish I'd allowed more time in Dubrovnik before the tour starts.

Lokrum is goood - had some of my best views of the city from there - as well as from the walls. Early morning means you should hopefully miss the day/cruise ship tours. If you have another day to spare then there is a lovely boat trip that takes in 3 other nearby islands inc lunch - really enjoyable trip. That can be booked from the harbour or hotel if based out in Lapad
