Don't know much about the place...but sure you can find some cheap and good accommodation in Almeria.
The Budget hotels generally starts from $42. You can find more information at: http://www.disrooms.com/discount-almeria-hotels/al For apartments information you can look into: http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/spain/S2143.htm

Hey, my 8 year old daughter and I spent about 5 days in Roquetas del Mar on Costa Almeria last June. I liked it okay. Our hotel was Zoraida Park and they have a sister hotel next door Zoraida Garden. Hotel was reasonably priced but the buffet which was part of our hotel was not so good. Otherwise the pool was great, the beach was nice, there was a nice paseo maritimo to take walks and the town was not bad. If you just want to kick back and relax, it's good. My daughter called it "our vacation away from our vacation" because we were visiting a lot of other places in Spain but we remember how calm that few days was.
