| Canada | Euro Visa/Mastercard - Euro bound Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 06:52 AM UTC
I recently heard something about there being a EUR visa or mastercard that one can obtain in Canada for use in Europe.
Anyone hear anything about that? Ja |

Your regular credit card works just fine in Europe. You can use your debit card over there as well, just not quite as easily. You can buy a pre-paid credit card in case you're worried about losing your "regular" card. Take some Euros with you to get you started, then use credit for larger items, ie: hotel, meals, etc. Use your debit when you are in the right places to refill your "cash supply" as you need it. Avoid using debit card like you would at home....there's a $5.00 fee for converting from Canadian to Euro each time you use it. Also you can use cash advances on your credit card. Rates aren't bad on Cards. Some careful planning and you'll be fine. Let your credit card company and your bank know you will be using your cards overseas and when you expect to be back in Canada, and that will help protect you from unauthorized charges after your vacation in case someone decided to "lift" your card number.
