I would like to take the train from Gothenburg to Oslo Norway on June 20 in the afternoon, the Swedish rail site I went to said there were only 2 trains this day and their were no tickets left. could someone please help me on this ? Maybe I was on a wrong site.

This site shows availability on the 08.07 on 20th June (assuming you are an 'ordinary' adult: I didn't check for discounts). Ticket is 112SEK second-class one-way.

It is possible you can't buy the others online because they are 'ordinary' trains (the 8.07 is the intercity). 'Not available' does not necessarily mean 'sold out': it can (and often does) simply mean that ticket is not available in advance and/or online.

I believe the later 'trains' (Lansbuss) are actually buses.

The reason why there's little to nothing available on SJ is because it's the Midsummer weekend and here's a big deal, everyone travels, etc. June 20 is Midsummer eve and when those who didn't get Thursday off travel.

BUT according to the Swedish version of the rail site, there's only seats on the 8:07am train that has one change in Kil. A second class ticket costs 112 SEK, first class 330 SEK if you book today.

However, NSB (www.nsb.no) seems to have places for their 12:45pm and their 17:45pm trains, and they seem to be direct trains, for 199 NOK (minipris, meaning limited seats with their lowest price - which can be up to 399 NOK) or 460 NOK for their full price.

Thank you so Much Mariel, you saved me again, I think I will book a ticket on NSB, but first I need to find a way to get to Gotenburg from the island of Tjorn, I will be there visiting family on the 19 of June, (I am going to Tjorn from Karlstad by car with family) they sent me a holiday bus link but I cannot read it, would you be so kind and try for me, they told me Gotenborg is 90 mn away from Tjorn.
Could you see if there is bus service from Tjorn to Gotenburg on June 20 ? then I can book a seat with NSB.

I think that may be it, the island is about a hour north of Gothenburg, it has a bridge going to it, I just talked to my family member who lives there and she said I should have no problem getting a bus and if I do they will drive me to Gothenburg so I can catch my NSB train to Oslo, (thank you for helping me) Maybe I can meet you and your husband in Stockholm when I am there for a drink ?

I looked up Tjörn and it was located on an island north of Gbg. Still, let me know if you need public transportation from there (although they're not covered by Väst Trafik).
