hi,
i am making a short stopover in hongkong and would like to visit disneyland and probably the city. would like to stay near the airport, but the hotels that i saw are very expensive. Can anyone recommend any hotels under usd100 that is near the MTR station at the airport or near any MTR station that is near the airport. i dont mind doing a bit of travelling on the MTR. Thanks |

You are right. The hotels near the airport are expensive. As you dont mind a bit of travelling on the MTR and it certainly is a wonderful way to get around HK I would just choose a hotel in your price range in Kowloon (25kms from airport) probably near Nathan Road for MTR convenience.
You havent said which month you are going to be in Hong Kong as prices vary seasonally but some of these may be in your price range. Prudential Hotel - 222 Nathan Road - close to Jordan MTR Metropark Hotel - Mongkok - close to Prince Edward MTR Eaton Hotel - 380 Nathan Road - close to Yau Ma Tei MTR

It would be cheaper outside of city centre(s). I usually stay at Tsuen Wan (but not in a hotel). That's right by MTR, handy for Disney, and the airport bus stops there (I can't remember, it's either A17 bus costs HK$33 or A33 bus costs HK$17). Local area has reasonable priced meals too - western set lunch for around HK$30.

I recommend you to stay near all the actions in Nathan Road or Mongkok. You would not want to miss the vibrant night life in these areas, which is hard for you to feel it if you are staying far away in the suburban areas.
My favourite choices: 5 star Royal Plaza Hotel - Mongkok 4 star Prudential Hotel - Jordan Cheaper 3 stars alternatives: Shamrock - Jordan Metropark - Mongkok Save the time for shopping and not on the travelling. Juz my 2 cents...
