Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Stuttgart IKEA
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 07:54 PM UTC
Hello,

A friend wants to go to Ikea in Sindelfingen or Ludwigsburg but dont know how to with public transport, can anyone help?

Sindelfingen would be a better option for her, however it seems not so possible to get to without a car.

The Ludwigsburg branch is further but when I look on the web, there seems to be 3 buses stopping just outside. Where do these buses depart from? Can she get the bus from Ludwisburg/Tamm S-Bahn Station or Stuttgart Hbf?

Can she check the bus schedule somewhere?

Thanks!

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
To: [Station/Stop] Ikea, Ludwigsburg
To: [Address] Sindelfingen, Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Str. 2

Both are part of the VVS network, i.e. VVS tariff applies.

IDEA Ludwigsburg is definately accessible without cars. There are busses from Ludwigsburg Bahnhof (the S-Bahn from Stuttgart center stops there), going to IKEA (check the vvs page, it is great - you can get a door-to-door connection including your walking path). The bus even has 'IKEA' as the destination written on top.

Sindelfingen is accessible with public transport, too, but I haven't done it myself yet.

But keep in mind that everything you buy you have to carry back on the bus ;)

Haha that was a funny one! Thanks for all the replies. She plans to use the delivery service. If the web translation works, any purchases with a total over 400 euros will cost 79 euros to deliver right?

Anyone has any idea how long it takes if the item is in stock?

Could you let me know how to get to the Sindelfingen branch cos ideally thats nearer? Thanks!

Yeah, would be a bit difficult to transport a whole sofa on the bus ^^

Sindelfingen - i cannot remember how I found out how to get there last time; i guess I just checked the vvs-page for the street of IKEA (it's hans-martin-schleyer strasse 2 in Sindelfingen). You take the train or S-Bahn to Boeblingen Bahnhof, there change to bus 757 or 701 for a few stations, and then she has to walk for 7 or 8 minutes. You better check this out yourself on vvs.de, it gives you a detailed plan how to walk.

No idea why I thought this would be more convenient?? Doesn't look like.
