Oahu Kahala hotel - within walking distance of Waikiki?
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 07:34 PM UTC
My family is looking into the Kahala Hotel & Resort near Waikiki for our next vacation. Our travel styles are different (2 of us love relaxing and the beach; another of us loves the city), and we're trying to find a central place for all of us, so we don't end up splitting up all day. We heard the Kahala is within walking distance to Waikiki, but we've also heard there is a 10 minute drive between the two. Does anyone know how far away they are from each other, in walking terms? We will be renting a car, but we would like a good hotel that has easy access to the city, yet isn't in the heart of Waikiki.

The Kahala resort is a beautiful hotel complete with a Dolphin Quest evironment. However, it is NOT in walking distance from Waikiki. That is unless you enjoy a three mile walk (one way). The Kahala is within driving distance between Waikiki and Hanauma Bay. A great place to stay but it can be a little pricey. Hope this helps!

Yes the Kahala Resort is way too far away from Waikiki to walk, however it is a fabulous place to stay. It has all the amenities you could possibly want and a whole lot of class as well. Set in the most beautiful of locations near Diamond Head. Transport to Waikiki is quite good and buses come regularly.

I agree with the previous posters. I would not try to walk to Waikiki from the Kahala. Other factors you have to consider when walking are the heat and humidity. A certain distance may be an easy walk in Seattle weather, but you'd end up with heatstroke trying it in Honolulu.
