Boulogne-Billancourt vs. East Paris

Can anyone tell me the commute time via Metro from the Marcel Sembat Metro stop in Boulogne-Billancourt to the Eiffel Tower? What about the commute time between the Porte de Vincennes Metro stop and the Eiffel Tower?

I am trying to decide if I should stay at a budget hotel - the Jardin chain - in Boulogne-Billancourt or in East Paris and knowing the length of the train rides to and from the Eiffel Tower will help me decide. Another important variable is the kind of neighborhood the hotels are located in so any tips/comments on that issue are very welcome, too!

It would take you about 25 minutes on average to get to Alma Marceau (Eiffel Tower) from Marcel Sembat, BB is very safe (it is quite well off, lots of businesses and companies, but residential as well with shops, etc).

The commute from P de Vincennes would probably take you 40 odd minutes (with one change), Vincennes is a safe and pleasant area as well, with the Bois de Vincennes nearby.

Obviously the North American chapter of my fan club is up early today. Please girls, keep the knicker-throwing bit till later, I am only half asleep still (just had a good siesta) and just warming up.

Do you know there are several budget hotels in the center of Paris ?
In the Marcel Sembat area there is nothing to see and to do (excepted restaurants)
Have a good stay

Guyon, I admire and salute your resilience. I have long given up the too sensible approach of advising newcomers/tourists to stay in interesting areas of Paris.

Cafe in Trocadero Square

Can you recommend a cafe in Trocadero Square? I have some time to kill while others in the group do the Eiffel Tower and would like to enjoy a glass of wine while waiting for them.
