Vancouver Granville Island
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 05:48 AM UTC
Hi,
I am going to be in Vancouver next week. I am interested in going to Granville Island for a day. I was wondering the best way to get there from Richmond? Also, I have read that you can take a mini ferry to Granville, where do I do that? Or is it better to drive there directly?

Thanks for your help! I am getting excited!!!

From Richmond take the 98B line bus to 5th ave and Granville, get off there and you can walk it is about 10 minutes. It is directly under the Granville Bridge, or you can cross the street, use the underpass and you will see a bus stop, you can wait there for the #50 bus False Creek South and ride to the entrance, about a 4 minute ride, there is a bus every 15 minutes, walking would be quicker and it's a nice walk. As for the small ferries, they depart from Granville Island and go to the the Aquatic Centre, or over towards the Science Centre, if Granville Island is your destination then you won't need to ride one of them, they also are not part of the transit system so you will pay extra, a couple of dollars I believe. Driving in Vancouver is a nightmare, if you go early you would find parking on the island, but it fills up fast and parking is not free. The bus is fast and conveninet, that is the way to go.

couldnt have said it better myself. Enjoy, but in reality sake, you can cover granville island in a mere few hours. check out some fish n chips, theres a great place along the seawall as you head towards the burrard street bridge. The street performers there are good entertainment too.
