Krabi	Soggy Railay versus Sunny Tioman or Redang Island or Chiang Mai? Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 12:22 AM UTC Hi there, I'm currently trying to work out what would make a nicer vacation during mid August: 1. Railay, or Ao Nang; or 2. Tioman Island or Redang Island. So far I've been told that Railay/Ao Nang are more spectacular to look at, and have less sea urchins to sting me, however, the weather there is not ideal (e.g. rainy!) during that time of the year. Is the rain so bad during August as to make it a bad place to go this time of year? Are there things to do there whilst it rains? Would I be better off in Tioman or Redang? Hi there,

August is the middle of the monsoon season in the Krabi Province. The weather can turn bad for days at a time with no warning. For the seafront resort portion of your holiday you'd be much better off concentrating on the islands in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samet, Koh Chang, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.
