Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Frankfurt am Main Frankfurt Main airport and Frankfurt Hahn airport....
Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 08:45 PM UTC
Where exactly is Frankfurt Hahn airport in relation to Frankfurt city? I understand it is more than a fair distance away but what sort of distance are we talking about? It's west of the city isn't it?

I'm checking to see if there are any reasonably priced flights from Frankfurt to Budapest but at the moment Frankfurt Hahn is the front runner.
Any thoughts VT members?
Thanks

We're talking something like about 100 kms. Calling Hahn Airport "Frankfurt" is a bad joke. The shuttle bus will take 1 1/2 hours. No train connections to Hahn.

Yeah its pretty well West of Frankfurt City. But its nearly 120 kms away and it took us by bus transfer closer to 1 Hr 50 mins(from diary entry). I don't remember if there was some traffic problem to account for the extra time. Its an ok airport because not all airline routes in Europe lead to Frankfurt Main, so if that's your only choice, take it.And everyone ***es about how the name should be changed, and it shouldn't be classed as 'Frankfurt' etc etc. So just think of it this way..........Its telling you what is available as the local cuisine in the airport food outlets. 'Frankfurt' is then much easier to swallow.
