It's just my opinion and observation after living near London for four years, but it's almost impossible to predict rain, wind or sun. For instance, early this week it was near 80F and sunny. Next Monday it will be about 55. I'd say June is probably a better bet than September for good weather, but September can also be quite nice. Once school begins in September, I think the crowds are smaller in London than during the summer.

The UK weather really is unpredictable, so please don't base your choice on weather alone.
Both June and September can be wet and chilly, or hot and sunny (as can July and August). No-one can tell until nearer the time. As far as visitors go, London is busy all year but I tend to think that July and August are probably the real peak season (because they are the UK school holidays, so there are people visiting for the day too). I think I'd choose June myself, if only because the greenery (trees, parks etc)is fresher than in September.

I agree, and although you can never predict the weather (even from day to day) June is usually drier than September.

I agree with previous VTers June is often lovely.
Unlike Delhi we never get really heavy rain, it just sometimes goes on and on and becomes tiresome! If its raining its cooler so a light rain jacket may not be enough, maybe another layer underneath. If its sunny it will be glorious but can feel quite humid, but if you are coming from Delhi that should not be a problem! As regards other tourists, right from now to end of September are relatively busy. But as mentioned, UK tourists will also increase numbers from late July to early Sept. Enjoy your trip

August is the peak month, and the hottest. The air can feel quite polluted and the pavements are crowded with tourists and litter.

'Often' the hottest......not always, not by any means, not even in London.
