I will be travelling to Monchengladbach for the Germany V Wales football match in October. I am aware that Weeze Airport is not in Dusseldorf but are there good transport connection from Weeze to Monchengladbach? How much will it cost? How long will it take? Where would be a good place to stay for a couple of nights, easy route to football ground and close to sight seeing opportunities? Thank you in advance for answering any of the above questions.

Didn't even know there was an airport in Weeze. I looked at www.bahn.de and see that there regular trains from Weeze to Mönchengladbach Hbf, about an hour trip at a cost of 12 Euro. Also looking at mapquest the airport is a short 1 mile to the Weeze Hbf/train station so a taxi should not be too expensive.
When I stayed in Mönchengladbach, I have stayed directly across from the station, convenient, quiet and not expensive. Sorry I have forgotten the hotel name. You should be able to check the city website to search for the hotel. Also www.bahn.de has a hotel search connection.

Mönchengladbach itself would be quite OK as base. Central towards Düsseldorf, Cologne and Aachen.
