| Paris | Help please! can one ticket from CDG to Suresnes is enough? Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 12:00 PM UTC
Could you please help answering my question. I will land in CDG airport and have to go to Suresnes hotel which is in zone3. So if I buy the RER B ticket of 8.20 euros at the airport, can i use the same ticket (within 90 min) till i reach my hotel in Suresnes?. Looking forward for your response. Thanks in advance.

I am no expert on the intricacies of the whole RER/Metro/Tram nexus network transfer thingy but I think the answer to your question is NO.
The journey Charles de Gaulle-Suresnes will last less than 90 minutes, but since Suresnes is in Zone 3, you'll have to validate another metro ticket when you get to La Défense Grande Arche (see RATP map in link). From La Défense it'll a tram (not a métro), line T2 Direction Issy-Val de Seine (it's an old disused railway line that the RATP converted into a tram line some years ago) http://www.ratp.info/orienter/plan_metro_pdf.php

Thanks for the reply! but La defence is also in zone 3. so when i buy the ticket in CDG airport , which is the RER ticket of 8.20 , doesn't it cover zones 1-5 till i reach my destination. Thanks! and looking forward for your reply.

You may be right, I'm not 100% sure, you'd better ask at a ticket office, I was under the impression that the RER ticket covered your journey (ie CdG - centre of Paris) + any connections within Paris but only zones 1 and 2 within 90 mins, but I know some things changed on July 1st 2007.

thanks!.. what i was thinking was, when the buy the ticket in CDG to the center of paris, i will anyway be crossing the zone3, with that ticket , so after reaching the center if i want to again go to some place in zone 3(within 90 min) , it should be valid.---thanks anyway!

One thing though, do not assume it'll be valid and that you can blag the controllers if there is a control, they are not renowned for their penchant to act as good Samaritans. Do take the time to ask at CdG, RATP controllers are tough these days (they do get a commission for every fine issued you know -on top of their salary- and probably commendations on the number of people they've nabbed as well no doubt), they're polite and professional but ultimately ruthless, they've heard it all and being a foreigner is no excuse to them.

sure! i will do as u say. so i should ask this question at the CDG at the time of buying the ticket is it?, actully i have some idea about this zonal system , becuase i am staying in Denmark, which is also divided in zones and have to buy pass/tickets based on zones crossing etc.
