| Tokyo | Weather in July Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 07:08 AM UTC
Hi, I will be arriving in Narita on 9 July, currently planning for free and easy tour, returning to Singapore on 18 July.
I heard that these time round will be raining reason in Tokyo area, should I change my destination to Hokkaido? I saw that the iternary for Hokkaido are more for farm /factory visiting which I think might not be suitable for self trip. Any advice? |

Well as weather goes anywhere it's a gamble, especially when it comes to guessing what it'll be in the near or far future!!
But yes, it could be wet but I don't think anymore so than most other places in asia, actually not as wet as some of the SEAsian countries. When it's not raining I would be ready for some pretty humind weather though, it can get pretty sticky in Tokyo that time of the year. Hokkaido would probably have rain as well, how much??? but the humidity wouldn't be or shouldn't be as bad. Good luck and have fun!

My guess is you should be ok.. hard to guess but mid-July last year was good.. Also rain usually comes in showers anyway so even if it rains it seldom lasts all day.. one can still see and do lots of things. :) And since it is so hot and humid the rain can actually be quite refreshing - or so I though anyway.. ;) Plus since you'll be in Tokyo you'll have plenty of place to seek cover! ;)
Enjoy your trip!

Hi, Hokkaido seems not a place for free n easy as I have limited Japanese speaking capability. I have booked accommodation in Kyoto for the 1st 3 nights, will plan my iternary subsequently, still looking for accommodation in Tokyo area. Our trip is a bit last minute. Any recommendation for cheap accommodation in Tokyo? Also, any must-see area? I am planning to go Kyoto, Shibuya, Tokyo-to, but not sure about which location has the best view of Mt. Fuji. Any suggestion?

I stayed in K's House when i was in Kawaguchiko, and i would say thats the best hostel i stayed in JAPAN. But not sure baout K's House in TOkyo.
During my stay in Tokyo, i stayed 2 nites at Khaosan Tokyo Smile for 2000 Yen Per night. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/b0891/ec9cc/3/ I also stayed 1 nite at the Odaiba Onsen Theme Park :) and i had to pay 1690 yen for staying over on top of my entrance to the theme park. I speak almost 0 japanese but i manage to go around Hokkaido! you must go there for the lavender farm!!
