easiest way to get to the eastern province coming from the states. assuming i fly into bangkok. could i hitchhike, train, or bus? thanks in advance.

Go o the bus terminal at Kamphaengphet Road ("Morchit") in north Bangkok. Take the intercity bus from there.

You can also check on the train service too.
http://www.railway.co.th/English/FareRate.asp Around seven or eight years ago I visited Khao Phra Viharn but by private vehicle. I do know that you can get there from Surin pretty easy. http://www.hotelthailand.com/ezine/2003/issue8/zine2.html Transportation is pretty cheap in Thailand and a lot safer than hitch-hiking.
