Province of Camiguin Visiting Camiguin

Me and my friend are planning to visit camiguin later this month of may. We've checked tour packages offered by agencies but they are all at high-end cost. We want to keep our visit simple. where do we get the best and satisfactory accomodation services and tour services (refering to the bunch of resorts and hotels listed on the web) yet at a low price? say, we want to rent a cottage or a room just for us, then tour camiguin during our stay. our visit will be for 3 days/ 2 nights. we are both from manila, newly graduated. we appreciate your insights and suggestions. thanks so much.

How about doing it by yourself? VT has a wealth of info that you can piece together to come up with your own trip plan. Visit the Camiguin travel guide which lists down accommodations, transpo, must sees, restos, etc.

On the northern beaches, there are a whole bunch of places to stay for reasonable rates. I ended up at Caves where there were rooms for 700 and cottages for 900.

Mine had an ocean view and you could hear the waves each night. But look around and you can probably find a better deal while this is [still] an undiscovered paradise.

hi! our visit to camiguin last June 12 to June 16 was quite an adventure. being backpackers, (that we are) we ended up rounding Agoho, Yumbing, and Mambajao areas in search for nice and cozy place to stay. the famous Paras resort and Bahay Bakasyunan are high-end hotels; Golden sunset, Caves Dive resort, and Villa paraiso among the middle, and if you are on a tight budget, there are resorts (near the sea shore) that are both cozy and affordable. Seascape and Seaside(Jasmin by the Sea) are the best choices. The beach here is black sand and near White Island...good place to walk or jog before day break. Unfortunately, they were full so we ended up in Cabu-an Resort which is equally a cozy place, great for relaxation. they have individual cottages (clean, tidy, and refreshing nipa) for 800/night - discount will be provided mid-july. they also have a lawn (vast area of lawn) covered with carabao grass which also made our stay more tranquil and so solemn because all you can here is the sea as it rumbles the rocky beach...that is, the beach here is "mabato" or rocky and fences (private property marks) were also extended beyond the beach, so you can't actually walk along the beach for so long. BUT, they have a floating boat/raft (with a shade/roof) that you can go to if you want to be alone with the sea...you can walk to them (two boats/raft actually)--floating nipa hut? yah, sort of.

The tour: We went to camiguin's hot spots within two days. We rented a motorcycle which made us access parts of camiguin which are not made accessible when you are riding the 4-wheels or motorela (tricycle). we did go the distance (rounding up camiguin) and visited the five Municipalities of Camiguin. I suggest, visit Kabela beach and snorkle your way to the beautiful giant clamps...feel the 'spa' service of tangub falls (hot spring from Old Vulcan which opens to the sea)...and go beyond Philvocs and be nearer to Mt. Hibuk-hibok...travel around catarman to see the Tres Marias mountains...hehehe...Unfortunately, we didnt have the chance to go to Mantigue Island and Tuasan Falls...and the Sunken cemetery has been made a sanctuary, so you have to have a permit before diving...Oh, don't forget to fish your breakfast at J & A Fishpen or order "Liplipan" (right ba? hehehe maybe). Anyway, i would be going back to camiguin to witness their lansones festival. That would be on October and join an eat-all-you-can lansones contest, yum-yum! We went to white island early in the morning during our first day and went there again late afternoon during our last day...you'd see the difference in it's contour during high-tide (early AM) and low-tide (late PM)...early morning visit is better though you only have till 7 AM since past this hour, the sun would just be eating you raw.

well, Camiguin as they say, "Come Again." I'd definitely go back!
