| Armenia | wheelchair travel in armenia Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 12:56 AM UTC
Please can anyone advise me... i hope to travel with my 22 yr old wheelchair bound daughter, to Armenia in July this year.... my husband was Armenian and my daughter is doing a Degree in armenian history...... I am worried as I am trying to organise a hotel in yerevan for 2 nites then a few nites in a village outside the city..... but it is difficult trying to find a reasonably priced wheelchair accessible hotel, also i cannot find any information about wheelchair accessible transport from the airport to city, etc......
If anyone has advice please let me know..... thanks so much, julie and rebecca, england |

I would say your best bet would be to take a taxi from the airport. There are a lot of taxis parked outside the airport that you can take into the city. Buses/mini-buses might not be such a great idea. I have no idea about the hotels. Most of the hotels in the downtown area have elevators. You really will have no luck in the villages outside the city as they are really old and are not wheelchair accessible.

hi julieanne
i have just been to yerevan for 8 days and it was my second trip..love armenia. i use http://www.hyurservice.com/eng/trips_request_eng.php they are in the middle of yerevan the staff are super friendly, they could arrange your accomadation and visit into the village for you i stay in apartments that they have to rent out,,very reasonably priced,,,but i always use their class A apartments..they have washing machine,air-con and elevators they also have a airport transfer service that would be good for your situation .. watch the taxi drivers they will try and rip u off..pay no more than 3000 to 5000 dram for taxi ride hope this helps
