| Phuket | SPECIAL PLACE FOR DINNER Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 12:54 AM UTC
Hi we will be in Phuket during July to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary with friends. Could you please suggest somewhere special for dinner either on the beach or with water views. Someone had suggested On the Rocks at the Marina which looked okay but they lost me when they mentioned a flinstone theme and raving on about iceberg salad! We are staying at Kata Noi and the Laguna area. We would prefer thai food with other options and reasonable wine/champagne costs (if this is available in Thailand!) I remember someone suggesting a Jazz Restaurant near Kata does anyone know this restaurant and another "Bakery" which was recommended. We are happy to pay whatever... as long as it is worth it. Thanks for your thoughts. Tracey

Hi Tracey
Ratri is located on the hills in Kata and they do provide transfers to and from your hotel. You can check out: www.ratrijazztaurant.com/ Another great option is Mom Tris Villa Royale which is conveniently located within walking distance to Kata Noi.The sister hotel The Boathouse located directly on the southern end of Kata Beach also has a great restaurant. www.villaroyalephuket.com/ All great locations with stunning views although I much prefer the food at either of Mom Tris establishments. Hope this helps and Happy 20th anniversary! Chantal

Hi
We are going to Phuket next year for our 25th Anniversary with friends and are planning to eat at On the Rock. We were there last year and ate with our kids at the Dino Park, that is the restaurant with the Flintstones theme, On the Rock is the same hotel but a different restaurant. I had a look at it and the views appeared spectacular. We can only manage 6 nights (unfortunately!!!). We are planning on Mom Tri's for our actual anniversary but definitely On the Rock for another night. We will be staying at the Marina so that makes it easy. The Flintstone restaurant and mini golf was a good fun night, but definitely not romantic! Deb

Thanks Deb for your input. The Marina looks nice... have you stayed there before? Also, did you eat at Mom Tris on your last visit and if so was it the one on the hill between Kata Noi and Kata Beach or the Boathouse on Kata Beach? I hope you have a great anniversary next year. Regards, tracey

I have not been to Ratri but I have friends who rate it highly, so it looks like you should go to both :-) Regards John

Hi
I didn't stay at the Marina but was considering it for my next visit. I took a quick tour of the complex when I was there. The rooms were really nice (try to get one with ocean views) but the resort's gardens are its real drawcard - they are lush and truly beautiful. We had a drink at the "On the Rock" restaurant at the resort. Very unique spot. However if you're talking fine dining then you really need to consider Mom Tri's Boathouse - http://www.boathousephuket.com/dining.htm. It's renown for its wine list apparently. I didn't dine there but did at the Kata Beach Resort a couple of doors down. Both are set on a beautiful, picturesque beach. So I would be inclined to take pre dinner drinks at the Marina followed by dinner at Mom's. That would make for a truly memorable evening.
