| Zürich | Morning in Zurich Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 07:59 PM UTC
Hi,
I will be flying through Zurich, and I will have six and a half hours between my flights (between 6:30 am and 1:00 pm), so I was thinking of leaving the airport and spend a few hours in the city. Is there anything anyone can recommend to do during that time? Any cool breakfast places in town or something like that? Thanks! |

Hi ya,
I'm just back from Switzerland and spent a few hours in Zurich. To see the main sights you can do a circular route starting from the train station. This route will take you past all the main sights in Zurich. The circular route is outlined on the intro to my Zurich page so feel free to check it out. (Specific tips aren't finished yet but should be posted in the next few days)

Hi,
you can buy or have chocolates at Sprüngli, that's a well known chocolate shop there. everything there looks so tasty you'll want to taste everything! it's a bit expensive though, but swiss chocolate is worth the money :) As for Zurich, I agree that you can see most of the highlights in 6 hours. if you walk from the train station and then follow the river you'll see 2 of the 3 cathedrals they have (the other one is 2-min walk far from these). you can go to the top of the grossmünster (that's the highest of the 3 cathedrals) and get a nice view of the city. if you keep walking to the end of the river you'll find the lake, that's a nice view. you can go on short ferry trips there, but i do not recommend them... try not to walk just by the river side, try and see the narrow streets nearby the river too. they're very cosy and they have some nice shops too. you probably wont have time to see this, but there's a japanese garden somewhere in Zurich. i didnt have time to see it, but i would have loved to.
