I am coming to visit Paris for just 36hrs on 20 june '08 and wanna pass the night under a roof spending some 45-50 Euros. Will it be possible ? I am planning to buy the 10 Ticket Carnet and roam around for the rest of time...
Can some1 help me to locate such a cheap hotel, nearby the prime tourist attractions and also is it necessary to book it in advance...
Best advice will be highy appreciated..

If it's just you, I'm not sure you'll need to buy a carnet--Paris is such a great walking city you'll probably walk more than take the metro, although unused tickets might serve as an incentive to go back! ;)

Hi! Etap Hotel is one of the hotel chains in Paris. Most of their hotels are clean and centrally located. My favorite is the one in La Villete. It is very clean and close to the metro stations. There is also a bakery and a supermarket nearby.

Check out the other Etap Hotels. They vary from €44 to €55 PER ROOM!

Have you checked previous pages Gautamb? This Cheap accommodation chestnut has been done to death in the past -in fact everyday there's one- you'll find previous threads very useful I'm sure.

ETAP is probably the best of the sub €50-a-room chains (rooms are ensuite), but all the ETAPs are located on the periphery of Paris, not ideal to soak up the atmosphere and delices of this most atmospheric city. I have no experience of budget hotels in central Paris (well, not recent) so I can't really advise you but do try to be based in central Paris, it is so much more interesting than being stuck in the back of beyond.
