Hello there,
I'm planning to go to Calabria in september with my bf for 2 weeks approx. Any good tips on how to get there, where to stay and eat, what to do and on nice beaches? We plan to spend 500 Euros p.p. maximum, all included. Thanks for your helpful answers! :-) dewisri

1,000 Euro per two people for two weeks looks a way too little budget if by "all included" you mean transportation and accomodation as well.

Two destination worth checking out for a vacation at the beach are Tropea on the West Coast and Soverato on the East. You will likely find sunshine, no crowd but still some vacation life (more likely in early September than later in the month).

Assess your budget carefully as you might be way out of target. Consider at least Euro 60-70 the couple per day for board and lodging (on a very tight budget) on top of getting there/away cost.

Check out airline services to Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria and Crotone. Train available (www.trenitalia.it - they have a page in English) to almost every final destinations.
