I am flying into San Jose and then driving to Monterey. Afterwards driving back to San Jose for my return flight. This will all be done in one day. Are there any tips to make this trip run smoothly? Thank you in advance.

You will be going against rush hour traffic, a good thing. I would use both routes. 17 to 1 one way and 101 to 1 the other way.

Thank you so much for your reply. Which route should I take to go from San Jose to Monterey and which whould I use for the return trip? I do not know the area.

I would take 17 there and 101 back.
