Munich Oktoberfest without a tent reservation?
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 01:01 PM UTC
Hi,

A group of 8 of us has booked travel and accomodation in Munich for Oktoberfest on the weekend of 3-5th October.

All of the tents seem to be fully booked. For any of you who have been before I would love to know:

- can you can queue up for tickets?
- are there tent ticket touts and are the prices ridiculous?
- are there any tents that you can get in without a ticket?

We are considering cancelling our flights if we aren't going to be able to get in anywhere, would be like a kid with nose prossed up against sweetie shop if we can't get in there, but all REALLY want to go.

Any tips most appreciated.

Liz

You don't need tickets.

You don't need tickets. Thus all. As long as they are not full. Which happens on a weekend pretty early.

a) you can reserve tables (as long it's not too late)
b) not all tables can be reserved. And/or not at all times.
c) with a party of 8 it won't be however easy to find space for all together. Weekends are also the most busy days.

Weekends are very busy but go early (10am) and you will get in. The Hofbräu tent has standing areas so that is probably the one to try when others are full.
Have fun!
