Flights stop mainly because it is the rainy season and it is not cost effective, presumably they cannot 'fill' the flights. However, Gambia Experience fly out (from UK) all year round, but they can be expensive.
The rainy season can be a wonderful time to visit, despite the high humidity, and electrical storms. Depends what you want from your holiday. Of course it will be overbearingly hot, so being fair skinned, extra sun precautions should be taken. Bear in mind also that the mossies will be rife!
Gambia is a brillant place, with a lovely mix of people. To go in the rainy season is a experience in its self! If you are up for that - go for it!
