Why do the main tour operators in the UK stop serving the Gambia between end April and start November? Is it really just too hot for a fair skinned person like me? Would You advise going anyway? Thanks, Jon.

Flights stop mainly because it is the rainy season and it is not cost effective, presumably they cannot 'fill' the flights. However, Gambia Experience fly out (from UK) all year round, but they can be expensive.

The rainy season can be a wonderful time to visit, despite the high humidity, and electrical storms. Depends what you want from your holiday. Of course it will be overbearingly hot, so being fair skinned, extra sun precautions should be taken. Bear in mind also that the mossies will be rife!

Gambia is a brillant place, with a lovely mix of people. To go in the rainy season is a experience in its self! If you are up for that - go for it!

Thanks for your advise. I might try Gambian Experience, I have come across them. Basically, I was given a Gambian girls phone number last October, we have kept in touch ever since. She claims she loves me, hence the reason for my trip. Too good to be true? Or is this a scam? Check my chapter 'Mabinty' She is indeed beautiful. Jon

i checked your chapter out and i gotta say that it is 99% sure it is a scam

do be careful

there are sites on internet for people who have been burned in many countries of the world to express their rage etc and help new people who have just been scammed

Thanks Craic, if I do go I will be carefull. I will go all inclusive, that will give me the security of a good hotel. I'll write to the British consulate in the Gambia aswell, ask their opinion, and tell them when I will travel. J

Jon,

The Hotels do not do 'All Inclusive' in Gambia. You can get b/b plus h/b if you require, but usualy people only go on a b/b basis. It is much better to eat at the numerous beach restaurnts etc.

Be very carefull (all due respect) with your ladyfriend. It can turn out to be a 'minefield' They are lovely, but usualy have an ulterior motive I'm afraid.

Might have to post several threads, as I am sending via mobile. And the bugger keeps timing out, losing my posts. Sorry

Elaborate scam, if it is one. My contact works in my local supermarket. He gave me her pics and letter at work. This has not been done online. Jon
