well..i'll be travelling to hong kong in this end of may, i got the hotel from the travel which is in new territories ( sha tin ), is it so far to get to kow loon or hong kong island ? do i hv to take train or cab ? how much its cost ?

Assume you will stay in the New Town Plaza in Shatin, fastest way to go to Kowloon side is take the train. Eg: Shatin Station to Mong Kok Station is HKD5.5 and needs 11 minutes.

And you can take train fm Shatin to Kowloon Tong and transit MTR to HK Island.
Eg: Shatin to Causeway Bay costs $16 and needs 37 minutes

New Territories is about 45 minutes to 1 hour to HK Island but is about 15 to 20 minutes to Mongkok.

Liz, your hotel will probably have some form of transport to get guests to and from the main areas or at least a transport hub.
I suggest you contact them and find out what they provide.

Due to HK's super trains you won't have trouble travelling at all.It will not take more then 30-45 minutes to reach anywhere in town from where you are, that is Shatin. You need to take KCR from Shatin station transfer to MTR( KCR and MTR are "one" but technically two different trains ). Buy the tourist cards for trains. More info on these cards on websites and very useful.

If need more info go to MTR websites to plan your journey which will give you a rough idea of your travel time.
