| Paris | Hotel recommendation for $250-300/night Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 02:53 AM UTC
My friend and I will be in Paris for two nights at the beginning of July. We are looking for hotel that is centrally located to the major sites. We are willing to spend $250-300/night. Recommendations? Thanks!

For that amount you'll have some nice options.
I just love this one perfectly located in Place de la Sorbonne. Hotel Select. It is a boutique hotel that has just been renovated. http://www.selecthotel.fr/uk_content/au-coeur-de-paris.php Have fun.

There is a Hilton that is right by the Eiffel tower - the Hilton Paris:
http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/PARHITW-Hilt (not sure if that long link will work, but just search www.hilton.com) Very close to the metro when you come from the airport in and easy to walk most everywhere. They also had a pretty nice breakfast buffet. You can see the Eiffel tower from the restaurant.

Hi
If you like smaller intimate hotels than the La Villa Maillot may suit you. Its near the Arc. and Champs Elysees for shopping and the hotel offers good spa treatments (not that I used them). The hotel has nice art works everywhere. Check it out on: http://www.lavillamaillot.fr/uk/navigation.htm but I suggest you book with a discount Internet booking engine such as Tripadvisor or Hotelclub.com - no sense in paying rack rates! Enjoy your stay John

Thanks for your help!
I did some research and we plan to go with the La Villa Maillot hotel. It's on the metro line 1, so it seems like it will be easy to get to the sites from this hotel.

Quick question...will this be your first trip to Paris?
If so - even though Hotel La Villa is lovely - I think you will be really unhappy with the location. I totally agree with Pomeral (Richard) - the Hotel Select is in a FANTASTIC location; you will be within walking distance of 75% of the major sites without ever having to use the Métro or taking a cab. IMHO, 1st timers should stay in the 1st, 4th, 5th or 6th arrondissements. If for some reason, Hotel Select did not appeal to you, here are some other stunning choices: http://www.castille.com/ http://www.paris-hotel-mayfair.com/en_content/index.php http://www.kkhotels.com/fr/hotels/paris/paris/vue- Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
