Budapest www.bahn.de train ticket from Prague to Budapest
Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 07:49 PM UTC
Hi,

Is it not possible to book online a ticket from Prague to budapest on www.bahn.de.

I have registered all of my information, however, I cannot get past the search screen to actually book the ticket. Either the my ticket cannot be booked online or I am missing something.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Jordan

Why do you want to book or buy a ticket from Prague to Budapest with Railways Germany - which is www.bahn.de?

We recently made this trip - just walked up to the counter and bought the ticket one day before departure. No problem. Most of the passengers were getting their tickets right before boarding. Be sure of which station your train leaves from - ours left from Holosevice and not the main station.
Do change over all your crowns to florints in the train station - there is a money change booth there. Easier than searching the Budapest station after a seven hour trip for ATMs.

Because I was searching for international train tickets there. Wasn't that I "wanted" to.

The search for a train from Praha to Budapest comes up with a small symbol where you otherwise would expect the price, meaning "cannot buy this ticket over the internet. So I guess you can't buy this over the internet from the German railways.
I'd do as the other poster suggested, and buy the ticket once there in Prague.

Actually you don't have to book a ticket, these trains rarely get crowded. Walk over to the counter about 2 hours before departure (just to allow enough time, should there be a lot of people buying tickets), or the day before and buy it.
DB German Railways only sells tickets online for its own services and for services of some of its rail carrier partners. Generally, these services are either high-speed trains, or trains terminating in or passing through Germany.
