| Orlando | Beaches near Davenport Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 05:13 PM UTC
Hi Everyone
Am visiting Orlando with my family at the end of May and its our first time. I'm staying in Davenport and am looking to find the nearest and best beaches and wondering how long a drive it would be? thanks! |

You are almost smack in between the west and east coasts, so choose whichever one you'd like to explore the most.
Getting to Daytona (east) is probably the easiest, as it's a straight shot on I-4 and easy to get around. The Tampa area -- for me, it's confusing to get to a public beach... Hope that helps!

The nearest beaches arn't the best beaches in Florida. Your nearest choices would be Clearwater (West) or Daytona Beach (East). I prefer Daytona Beach because it's easy to get around as the other member mentioned. There's plenty of parking on the beach or in some of the public lots. The water is warm (not Carribean blue though) and the waves are fairly good for boogie boarding. If you want to see some really nice beaches, spend a couple nights in Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach.

Cocoa Beach is the closest (about a 30 minute drive from Orlando International Airport). But, the sand and water are brown.
If you're looking for something more attractive, Daytona Beach would be it. It's about an hour and 15 minute drive from Orlando International Airport.

Clearwater Beach & St. Pete's. They are on the gulf side and a lot safer than the rip currents you can expect on Atlantic side
