Currently I have a hostel booked but I think my backpacker days are over (lol) so am looking for a cheap hotel instead. Does anyone have any ideas??? I know it is possible that most places are booked up already but worth a try. Been to Singapore once before and stayed in an ok hostel back then but it seems to have vanished from existence! Hi all,

Hi, there aren't any cheap hotels in the Marina Bay area. The closest I can think of is Victoria Hotel and Hotel81 Bugis (http://www.hotel81.com.sg/hotels_bugis.shtml), but these will set you back by S$200+ a night (and possibly higher) during the race week.

All other hotels in the immediate areas are 5-stars and above and will cost upwards of S$600 per night during the same week.

You may also wish to consider my favourite budget accommodation in Singapore, The New 7th Storey Hotel (http://www.nsshotel.com)

Just my 2 cents.... :-)
