Paris Special Dinner in Paris
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 06:53 PM UTC
I've got to make a dinner reservation Saturday May 25(not much time!) I'm hoping that my friends at VT can recommend a romantic place--price not issue--that may be able to squeak us in at short notice. Where do you like to go for a special occasion dinner? Thanks!!

I'll differentiate "romantic" from "impressive", therefore excluding quite a few top restaurants which are excellent, grand, beautiful, etc. but not particularly romantic to me (Grand Véfour, Train Bleu, Les Ambassadeurs, etc.), more suited to "celebrations" shall we say.

I could recommend over 100 probably but I'll just recommend 5, in no particular order:

L'Ambroisie (Place des Vosges, east of the Marais)
La Maison Fournaise (Ile des Impressionnistes, Chatou -take a taxi)
Le Georges (top floor + terrace of Pompidou centre)
Le Diapason (Montmartre)
La Toque Saint Germain (just off Quai de la Megisserie)

I agree that Le Georges is a fine choice (it's the only one on ExParisian's list where I have dined...so far).
It would help if you could offer YOUR definition of "romantic." Do you mean intimate and private or would you like a spectacular view along with your fine dining?
Keep in mind that if you are staying in a hotel - your concierge will be able to get you a reservation in advance. Also many restaurants have websites and you can reserve online.
More information from you will increase your responses.
