Hi there, a question for any residents of Orkney......
Generally, what is the weather like in June?
I will be there for a week in late June and want to pack as light as possible, so I was thinking of leaving the warm jumper and raincoat at home, it is summer after all!
Am I being a bit too optimistic? Does the temperature every reach 30+?

I'm not a local, but I know Orkney quite well.

Do not leave your jumper or your raincoat at home.

Like the rest of the UK, the weather is unpredictable, and you are quite some way north in Orkney (it's also quite a windy place).

It's a wonderful place to visit, but I think the chances of you getting temperatures anywhere near 30 degrees are pretty minimal. I needed my hat and scarf on some July days. Summer average is around 15, with a max of around 19.

Reaching 30+ is pretty unusual for the rest of the UK too.

As the above said - don't leave home without them. The weather changes rather dramatically. I was there for two weeks and had beautiful and pouring rain. Be prepared for anything - just layer and you will be fine with a rain coat (and rain pants if possible).
