| Tehran | Money in Iran Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 01:57 PM UTC
I saw the posting about taking "traveller's checks" to Iran from the UAE. I'm coming from Pakistan, though (Lahore). Can I get such checks here? Any other advice about how to access money in Tehran?

Essentially the only way to pay in Iran is cash. There are Iranian travellers cheques which you can buy and use in Iran, but only with money you brought along. Foreign traveller's cheques and credit cards are essentially worthless.

Cash, either USD or Euro is king. No TC and no credit card.

Iran is virtually crime free, in terms of robbery. It is safe to carry large amounts of cash. And it is your only option.
