hi everyone.
i believe there are no airport buses going to skopje from the airport. does anyone know roughly how much a taxi will be going to the city centre??

Not sure about the price but I have heard that it is a bad idea to catch a cab outside the airport in Skopje - they are notorious for ripping people off! ring for one or catch one that is dropping off someone to the airport and is returning to the city centre. THey will want another fare and are more likely to be legitimate.

ketch1973, the price depends on this:

If you take one of the individual taxi drivers waiting for naive tourists in front of the airport, they will most probably overcharge you, as pure1942 said. They dont belong to any taxi company so avoid them.

Instead, use a cab from a reputable company. You can do that by:

- Booking online in advance, for example at http://www.taxi.com.mk/en/company.html (thats "Komak Komerc" company, I regulary use them, but I've never used their online services so if it doesnt work for some reason try to reach them by phone)
- Calling taxi by phone. After arriving, enter the airport and use the public phone located right from the main entrance with a calling card from the shop nearby. Or call from a mobile phone. If thats expensive, ask someone to call for you. Calling by SMS is also possible for some companies.

and so on and so on.. there are many

Personaly, I would recommend "Komak Komerc", because of the price: from the airport to the city or vice-versa they will charge you ~10 euros (approx. 600-650 Macedonian denars depending on the current exchange rate). The rip-off taxi drivers may charge you twice of that! So beware

Note: Taxis dont use their taximeters when driving to/from the airport as it is a location out of the city.
