Contact Red Pirates. You may also email VT Sirenna as she could probably give you referrals.

you dont need red pirates, plenty of boats on the island, red is one paraw of many many, but you may want to try alan fun tours as well. Dont need to do anything in advance, just get yourself there.

If you want a motor boat with lots of people, Allen Tours offer these scheduled trips.
For sailing on a private boat Red Pirates are a good and reputable boat crew. Been with them a few of times now, as well as trying other boats, and when comparing the food and the service I would have to say they are very good.
We got overcharged by some other boats and had various problems and let downs, including incompetant boat men who took us out in bad and unsafe conditions. Other boats dont do the BBQ, some don't have lifejackets.
It's better to go with someone with a good reputation and lots of experience such as Capt Joe from the Pirates. Don't know why Boredoffboracay seems intent on taking business away from this nice guy by making negative comments every time someone recommends him. Not all paraws are the same. Not all hotels are the same. Not all massage is the same...

Standards really do vary for the different services offered, regardless of price. Some of the massage ladies are excellent, for example, and some are useless. Some cheap restaurants are good (such as Smoke Resto) and some are appalling. Same for boats. It's always a better idea to ask around and go with somebody reputable than take a chance with the first guy who harasses you on the beach.

hey catburglar, I am not putting down Joey or Red Pirates, I am only saying there are many other good boat guys out there and give them a break. And, others on this forum have had problems with Joey, as with other boats. Joey is good, but others are just as good. And, I dont promote any0ne and believe that all should get a chance. Your post seems to indicate that no one else on Boracay is worth a try, this is bola bola. I also have a problem with this forum being used for advertising just one person. Forum is about travel advice, not lets help our friends.

I'm not advertising anyone. I only made a recommendation for a good boatman, based on the question asked and on my own positive experiences with that boat and crew. I had negative experience with several other boats so I return to the one who I trust. Theres a reason he is popular.
We've all got favorites, be it restaurants, hotels, whatever.

Another vote for the Pirates guys. They are good boatmen and honest guys.
As boredoffboracay says there are lots of good boats out there, but also lots of bad ones, so it's better to get a recommendation. I cant see why you appear to have a problem with that. Dont you recommend things yourself, hotels etc?
Otherwise you might get the guy I went with a couple of years ago who sailed me into a storm and capsized the boat with the loss of my expensive camera! Or the boatman who was arrested for molesting a female tourist last year....

We just did this trip around the coast with the Pirates, and loved it. Awesome food.
Whats with this forum? People ask specifically for a recommendation, and when people give one they are critisised and accused of advertising. Bizarre.
For me I'm glad I went with a well respected crew and didn't take pot luck on the beach.
