| Rio de Janeiro | Bus transportation form Rio de janeior to Salto or Sao Paolo Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 06:20 AM UTC
I would like to know how one would travel to Salto or Sao Paolo by bus from Rio de Janiero. I could not find what bus companies have this service.
Thank you, john |

Buses leave from Terminal Rodoviaria Novo Rio and the company that runs to Sao Pulo is '1001':
ttp://www.autoviacao1001.com.br/pt/ The journey takes 6 hours. mira

There are two cities in Brazil named Salto. I believe Salto you want go is in Sao Paulo State. This city is near Campinas and Itu. I think you would not find direct tickets between Rio and Salto/SP. Make a transfer in Campinas/SP.
The above link is concerned in Bus Companies Rio--> São Paulo: http://www.novorio.com.br/busca.asp?nome=S%E3o+Pau I suggest Cometa or Itapemirim. http://www.braziltravelblog.com/2007/12/31/rio-bus Cassiovieggore

John-
You don't say what you have done to find bus companies. This page (from a very good general site about travel in Brazil) has a link to the main site for Brazilian buses, ANTT, and instructions on how to use it. If you pick: Linhas que 'Fazem Seção em Uma Localidade' and put in 'Salto' you see that the bus company for Salto, S.P. appears to be: https://appweb.antt.gov.br/transp/secao_uma_localidade.asp and is on the route going from Campinas to Curitiba. Use the same technique to find the rest of your route. As mircaskirca said, there are a lot of buses on the Rio to S.P. route. Depending on the time of year, there is usually no need to buy waaaaaay in advance. Boa viagem.
