Hi, while at Malang, i stayed at Santika Malang... good hotel and suitable for family. They have a pool and tasty breakfast too. Near a supermarket for your needs.
Location a bit outskirt (about 5 km) from main Botanic Garden but the rate is cheaper. Around US35

I was waiting for some VT-er living in Malang or Surabaya to answer your questions. Since none has responded, here is what I can tell you. If you want to stay near the city center, browse through the Malang hotel tips. The following are all centrally located: Kartika Graha Pajajaran Tugu Helios (in a sideroad) Trio Indah Once you are there, you will find even more hotels in the vicinity. Regards, Theo
