Do you feel computer technology is becoming overwhelming, are you coping?
I try to keep up with Information Technology by reading the occasional IT mag and brochures, sometime I don't even understand what they are advertising. Am I waving or drowning ((: |

I should think reading the occasional magazine to keep up with technology is much like watching the news occasionally to understand politics...it's often very confusing and you don't get very far.
The easiest way I have found is to talk to people who understand and have them explain things to you. I have an unfair advantage here as my son is a computer geek. Reading the Q and A on the tech forum can also help. Sometimes I have found that I am trying to learn/understand things that are way beyond my level of understanding, when I ask my son he says, don't bother mum, they're things you would always expect to have a technician do for you. |

Purpleshade that's good advice. Sometimes I feel I have opened this IT book and started reading it halfway through. There's them big black holes out there.

Having worked for a Multinational company I was enveloped in systems hooked to flashing lights and all that jazz.
IT engineers seemed to always be buzzing around reinstalling or fixing something. I was very intimidated till one of the chap suggested: "The only way makers can ensure sales to the public is to make things work easy." "If you just use them and stop thinking about them they will work long enough so as when they don't it is time to replace them anyhow!" |
