| Sydney | Reasonable Resort Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 07:37 PM UTC
Thanks to everyone that answered my previous post about flights-you are all so helpful!
Next question: I am coming to Sydney on business and would really like to stay at some sort of resort after business (give me something to look forward to!) I could stop in Tahiti or Fiji but seems very expensive to stay at these islands! Any ideas out there? I really don't care where I'm at as long as I have a pool and palm trees. My budget is around $100-150 US a night-thanks for all your comments and ideas! Darla |

Hi Darla -
George W's war bill has deflated the value of the US dollar, and for that kind of money, you won't get much of a 'resort' in Australia in my opinion. What time of the year are you coming? If it's soon, you'd want to head to Queensland up north for warmer weather... Or from Sydney, you could head to Terrigal which is a cool little beach town, the Hunter Valley for a wine country type getaway, or to the Blue Mountains for some hiking if that's your thing. All spots are <2hrs away. Hotel prices? www.wotif.com.au is a great discount site if you want to get a feel for prices. Hope that helps!

As Michael said, you could stay in Oz for a tropical resort holiday, you don't need to go to one of the other S. Pacific islands, we have plenty of palm trees and pools :-)
My home town Terrigal he mentioned has five star hotels and smaller less expensive hotels and motels all close to or on the beach for example. Alternatively, it depends which airline you're flying with and which route you're taking - maybe you could stop-off somewhere on that route.

Terrigal is the pick of the nsw east coast and close to Sydney.
Otherwise Queensland would be ideal, however, weather could be against you at that time of year.
