| Venice | Airport to hotel Venice Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 04:25 PM UTC
What is the most efficient way to get from Marco Polo Airport in Venice to the city? I am trying to conserve some dollars but will have enough lugguage for a 12 day cruise. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you

By bus.
Easy, inexpensive (even more inexpensive if you use the ordinary stopping bus rather than the special airport bus). Timetable for the express bus here: http://www.atvo.it/eng/airport.php?ld=index_vat.ph It stops directly outside arrivals, and will take you to Piazzale Roma in around 30 minutes (depending on traffic). Have 3 euros ready for the ticket machine, and remember to validate (date-stamp)your ticket when you get on (yellow machine on bus and also at airport bus stop).

Your bags will just go in the bus hold. No problem.

If you are joining your ship directly, rather than staying over in Venice, then you can catch the Alilaguna Blu Line service ( ferry boat) from Marco Polo Airport dock which will take you straight to the Stazione Marittima. It is more expensive than the bus service (about 12 Euros each) but it's convenient and you do get to see a bit of the Grand Canal.
I stops at Piazza San Marco then goes straight to the Maritime station. Tickets can be bought inside the arrivals lounge after you've left customs. As you come out from the Custom Hall, turn right and you'll see the ticket office on your right.
