VT Survivor meet Aussie style.
Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 05:26 AM UTC
In less than 2 hours I'm heading out to the airport to catch my flight to Darwin. On tuesday 12 of us are heading out into the Australian Outback on an adventure of a lifetime. Camping is so very foreign to me and I am not one to crave sharing my personal space with snakes, croccs and all manner of creepy crawlies. This simple is an experience never to be repeated or missed as Zig has organised a most intimate and amazing outback adventure where we will learn all about Aboriginal culture and life.

We promise not to let the crocs eat all 20 of you virtual Attendees. If other meets are anything to go by these Virtuals will be very hard to control. They really do get up to a lot of mischief. So, anyone caught terribly misbehaving one word of warning, you may not return in one piece. lol

If anyone is interested to see what we are doing or where we are going please check out Zig's page at http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tt/917f5/#TL

Those not so brave are flying in for the after parties and activities listed here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/58469/1ca531/

I wonder if any other meet has been as amazing as this.

see you all in 16 days...hopefully...

thanks G. Crocs should be ok , it's all the other bugs and snakes that have me worried.
Anything under 4 star is so very foreign to me so this brings me right out of my comfort zone.

Uh oh, I am a virtual attendee, and how far can I go in mis-behaving?! I've been up there several times, although admittedly not in a tent. You are in for some great scenery, wildlife and fun. The crocs are gi-normous, and they like a tasty piece of flesh, hehe. I can't wait to hear about it! And I'll be back up there in June, can't wait. Have fun!

I'm two-thirds there. Currently making generous use of the free internet access in Singapore! I have to PC-hop sometimes but its killing the 3 hours! Going to go and chill by the gate in a bit. Need to start the trip journal and then I have a book to work on.

I think I'm in 1 - but, then again, it could be 2. Its definitely not 3 because there's a sign for the SkyTrain to Terminal 3. Its fairly busy. This will be my last 15 minute session - people are starting to queue up for the PCs now so I won't be mean and hog!

Hi Rosie
You & I have been chatting about this in the last few days a bit .
I have commented on some of the ladies going on this adventure to kida keep an eye on you and support you .

I have been following this fantastc Outback adventure on Zig's pages from day one .

So if the Croc's do have to take a bit out of me please tell the C roc to take a piece of my ''Belly '' because there is plenty of belly to go around .

I will be looking for updates in Zig's pages and elswhere and if any of you do have a PC with them pls give us a daily report here in Misc Forum .

One other VT meeting comes to mind is the Santorini VT meeting where some of us (30 ) went Island hopping in the Eagean Seas near Greece .
That was a fantastic 5 day adventure on 3 Sailboats but not as scary as yours .
A VT meeting in Santorini after that was a huge succes
But you allready know that eh .

Try to have fun Rosie think positive ,maybe keep your socks on at night it could
help I think
I hear Crocs do not like Socs .

Ok see you when you get back ,have a great adventure everyone .

Hansi
.

Well, picked up Pam (kiwi) and hubby from Darwin airport last night, the crew are all here now. A wild night of food , drink and karaoke last night that Darwin won't forget in a long time. Today we get the vehicles, supplies, first aid kit, and other sundries. Tomorrow we head out for the great wilderness. Thanks for everyone's support. We promise to treat all virtuals humanely. Well, ...... pretty humanely, ..... most of the time, ..... umm, probably. ;O)

No worries. Although, some of the group have said they want good photos of crocs. They've been asking for volunteers to stand near a river or billabong to attract some crocs so they can get a good shot. Are you interested? I don't think the pay is good, but they would always remember you and be appreciative of your help. :O)

Photos of mad Irish women are guaranteed to scare away all the crocs so you'd better put someone else on the job :)

I have the remains of a finished whole chicken that the guests could dangle over the billibong from a fishing pole = croc attraction. Have you ever read the book "Crocodile Attack" by Hugh Edwards? I have a copy here, and if the gullible guests had read this one, they might be opting for a stay in the Croc Hotel instead of a tent! (I am being a bad girl today!).

Jen, I think it was Ann (aussirose) who did the selection, but there was a chorus of voices doing the singing.

Marianne, I took them to see the film Black Water. None of them seem to be keen on going fishing in a boat any more, for some reason. But tonight most of them are snuggling into luxury hotel beds. It'll be a while before they get that chance again.

Thanks Hansi, but they're already having a wild time, before even leaving Darwin. Don't know which is in the greatest danger, them or the outback!
