| Bellagio | Eating at a Reasonable Price in Bellagio Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 02:06 AM UTC
We are traveling to the Lake Como area (staying in Menaggio) and will want to spend some time in Bellagio. There are six of us and I am picking up the tab. (I am a good parent!) Can anyone recommend some great eateries at a reasonable price? Also, if you are familiar with Menaggio and can answer the same question for that wonderful little town, I would greately appreciate it!

I have eaten in Varenna close to Bellagio and have a tip on a great restaurant, Alberco Oliveido - right by the lake.
Bellagio is beautiful, but can be more touristy and crowded. The place where we ate was outstanding. The owner (Laura) takes pride in her business and it shows! We enjoyed wondering thru Varenna too. We actually got off the boat in Bellagio and it was so crowded in the summer we got right back in the next boat. If we return, it will be off season.

I most certainly can!
Ristorante Bilacus at the top of Via Serbelloni is where I prefer to go for lunch when I'm staying in Varenna. It has wonderfull pergola covered garden with maybe 15 tables in it. Great food, great service and won't break the bank. I have never been a fan of Menaggio and realy can't recommend Varenna highly enough although I found dining in Hotel Olivedo a bit offputting given the owners eccentricities! Plenty of other dinig establishments to choose from. Only 6 weeks till I return, have a great trip. Regards, Billy
