I would like to hear from anyone who rented an apartment for
the few days they were in New York. I would like to rent one but want to make sure some have had a positive experience with renting an apartment.

Great location in Greenwich village, I loved staying here, made me feel part of the residential community

I have never rented a short term apartment in New York City, however I have lived here for years. On my own quest for apartments (more permanent) we use craigslist.org for New York City under housing. I mention this because I see many listings from New Yorkers who rent their apartment for the night or week.
I had one friend who rented out a second bedroom on and off for the same purpose. Another friend is renting a semi furnished room on a month to month basis.
It will depend on what you are trying to do... It is worth checking out.
