Hey guys,

I am travelling to Innsbruck (from Munich airport) in a few weeks. Can any of you help me with some information regarding (some cheap) train tickets. What is best to do in this case?. Has anyone done this trip?. Please let me know.

Cheers,

will give you train times (and fares for journeys originating in Germany).

will give tou times and fares originating in Austria.

Sometimes, booking in advance online will give you cheaper fares.

If you do not use the fast but the regional trains the Bayern-Ticket is the cheapest option. It costs 19 Euro if you travel alone and 27 Euro for groups up to 5 people, and it includes the S-Bahn trip from the airport to the railway station (Hauptbahnhof). You can travel from 9am to 3am of the following day, and on weekends even from midnight until 3am of the following day. You can criss-cross Bavaria with it during a whole day if you have time and do not have to hurry to Innsbruck.

Additionally you need to purchase a ticket for the Austrian leg of the journey which costs only a small amount as Innsbruck is not far from the border.
