| Belo Horizonte | Bus information between Belo Horizonte and Betim Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 02:17 PM UTC
We speak English and pretty good Spanish but have no experience in Brazil. So we wanted to know if we can expect to get by well without Portuguese but with English and Spanish in Belo HOrizonte. We are attending meetings during the day in Betim
for about six days in a row, some meetings may start early in the morning and go to late at nite. How is the bus schedule between Betim and Belo HOrizonte, where we will be staying. Thanks so much for your help. Ellen |

It's about 26 miles (42 km) between B.H. and Betim.
This page may help you figure out which bus to take. Type in the addresses for both ends: http://ww1.busonline.com.br/ If you are in a group, you may want to contract with a private driver. Your hotel can probably help you with this. You will find very few people who speak English. They may understand some of your Spanish, but you may have a hard time understanding the replies. Take a phrasebook and/or write down some phrases you might need, to carry with you. Mahe sure you leave some time during your travels to visit at least a couple of the historic cities in the nearby mountains, such as Ouro Preto (can be done as a long day trip), Congonhas and Tiradentes.

Ellen:
* Here are some links you may make use of: http://www.tremnet.com.br/Getdetal.aspx?codn=66412 http://www.bhtrans.pbh.gov.br/bhtrans/atendimento/ http://www.belohorizonte.mg.gov.br/por/a_cidade_mapa.php http://www.belohorizonte.mg.gov.br/por/index.php http://www.apontador.com.br/maps/?tl=r&st=BR|% http://www.granbel.com.br/IM_maparmbh.asp * I live in Belo Horizonte. I was born here. My concern in your english talk is connected to brazilian misunderstanding. If you use a slow/lazy spanish you will have an odds-on chance to be understood. Most o people here just listen english on TV movies. * May I ask you: What meeting will you share at Betim? If my english were fluent I would risk to notice you my Phone-number. Listen: Why don't you use the notebook to send VTe-mails to me when you are in Belo Horizonte? This way I am able to answer your questions... I will wait your decisions reading the VT forum or e-mail... This way I may help you if you feel lost. Cassiovieggore
