| Europe | 7-10 Day Backpacking trip in Scandinavia? Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 11:02 AM UTC
I'm interested in a 7-10 day backpacking trip in Sweden, Norway or Finland in June. (I'd also consider a canoeing or kayaking trip of the same time length.)
In France and Spain, there are GR routes, or Grand Randonnee, where you can literally hike for weeks on designated routes over the alps or pyrennees. the GR20 in Corsica is pretty famous: http://corsica.forhikers.com/gr20 .... Soooo...I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything like this in Scandinavia? or extended canoe trips etc. Any help/thoughts/experiences welcome Thanks much. Alex |

Just to clarify, by "backpacking," I mean camping, not spending the night in hostels....

Norway is, of course, excellent for hiking! You'll find lots of info on DNT's (the Norwegian Trekking Association) website: http://www.turistforeningen.no/english/
According to DNT, there are some 20000 km of T-marked routes (marked at regular intervals) in Norway, so you should be able to find some hikes of interest. ;o)

This is what I could find about hiking in Sweden: http://www.visitsweden.com/VSTemplates/Page.aspx?id=9633 - hopefully someone who's actually have hiked can give you better pointers than this one.
