Can anyone tell me if it's possible to get a bus from Uluru to Alice Springs (or vice versa), and where I would find such information? I have to go to a conference in Alice in July and was thinking of flying into Uluru beforehand.

Hi, I used the AAT-Kings, a Bus-Company doing daily tours from Uluru to A.Springs. It was easy and comfortable, booking via Internet/Mail no problem.

If you can I would hire a car and drive, splitting the trip at Kings Canyon.( this is if you have the time)Uluru to Kings Canyon and then to Alice.( or vice versa)
Take the sealed road option and all you need is a car.( you only need a 4x4 if you are doing the loop section)
It isn't as isolated as people think. There is traffic coming a going all the time. The drive is great and not at all scary for someone to do alone.
Being an Aussie gal I am sure the distance won't worry you:)
If you decide on the bus, do hire a car at Uluru to see the Rock etc, this is a great way to do it as you can take your time stopping at different areas.
There is no way you can get lost around Uluru, one road in to the village from the airport and one to the Rock, Olga's etc.
