How long will it take by car to drive up the East Coast? Is it an easy or hard drive and what type of car do you recommend?

Hello, I've been in Barbados 2 times - very wonderful island! I've drove through whole island by a rent car, it's easy and cheap. If I remember right, it takes only few hours to drive around the island because it's really small place :) I recommend you to visit one beach where you can feed wild turtles with fish, it's fun! Just ask tourist board there or hotel, they will give more info.

If you are driving from the south coast up the east coast to the northern tip of the island without stopping anywhere, allow a good 45 minutes to an hour. Most roads are good, so drive whatever suits you. Most roads are fairly well signposted nowadays, but definitely travel with a map just in case - the car rental company will give you one anyhow..
