Nice Eze, Nice, and St Paul de Vence
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 02:33 AM UTC
Our cruise ship docks in Villefranche on May 27th. We would like to visit Nice, Eze, and St. Paul de Vence. What is thr best method for this? It appears that Nice is close to Villefranche, and Eze is 8kmk from Nice. Is this correct? Should we take the train to St. Paul de Vence, then return to Nice and have a taxi take us to Eze? Or hire a driver?

The train does not go to SP de V. We took a train to Antibes I think, rented a car and drove there. Not too hard. We stayed in SP de V, but I liked Eze better. Nice is nice too cause it's on the coast and more Urban.

As "boat people" your time is quite precious and St Paul is really too far to be practical along with the others you mention. Anyway St Paul is much the same as Eze - but a lot further away and without the amazing view.

You can catch a train to Nice Gare Ville and there are two buses from Gare Routiere there to Eze Village the 112 and 82, from which if you are up for it is a 40 minute walk back down to Eze bord de Mer down the Sentier Neitschze and a couple of stops on the train back to Villefranche.

Personally I would forget the idea of "hiring a driver" for the day - this is a very expensive option - even if you could find one. Taxi drivers live well here.

I know everyone jumps off the ship (not literally of course) and disappears to Nice, Monaco etc for the day. Villefranche Sur Mer itself is gorgeous and certainly deserves an hour of its own if you have time in your tight schedule. It is absolutely my favorite place along the Riviera.

It's best to hire a driver if you just have a day. You can waste alot of time taking a train and such.

Nice, Eze and Saint-Paul in a few hours... don't bother with a private driver, so 20th century, club together and hire a chopper:

Having watched the May 1st demonstrations last week I would suggest the 20th Century is alive and well in France - if not also the 19th.

Too right NiceLife, it's not like in the good old days, is it?
Fancy those workers demonstrating to express theirconcerns over their future! Why can't they just get on with it, grin and and bear it like in the vast majority of countries, hey? What a disgrace they are!
