Lima Travel Forum

Hello all. I will be travelling to Lima in about two weeks and I am looking for a safe but relatively cheap hostel or hotel. I would prefer a double (as I will be travelling with the fiance) with a private bath anywhere in the price range of $25 to 40 a night. I have been searching online and reading Lonely Planet but from previous travelling I have found that the best suggestions come from other travellers.

I will only be staying in Lima for 2 or 3 nights and then catching a flight to Puerto Maldonado so any suggestions for places to stay in Puerto Maldonado would also be appreciated!

For past trips I have spent hours researching online for best places to stay, sights, etc. but unfortunately I will not have the time to do that for this trip. Thanks!

Check the "accommodation" tip in my Lima page & see if that Bed & Breakfast/hostel will suit you. The location is in the mansion row of Miraflores (one of the most upscale neighborhood in the city) & they have Bed & Breakfast-type service with private rooms with bathroom around the garden area as well as I believe a dorm-style hostel set-up inside the house, but I remember it got quite cold in there at nights.

New to VT? Finding hostel or inexpensive hotel tips is perhaps the one thing that is a little tricky on this site. Once when the site was re-organized (probably to promote hotel advertising) the one of a kind special hotel and accommodation tips got hidden an extra click away behind a listing of the "popular" larger hotels. One has to persist until you get to a place where you can click on 'miscellaneous' or 'all tips'. Good luck.

I always stay in this hostel.
It's clean, located in a safe area in Miraflores and costs about 30 dollars a night.
There is a small garden to relax, with a swimming pool and you can have breakfast for 5 dollars.

I got it from someone who visited Lima a lot of times.
